In 2009 she had four releases three of which were in Telugu. Her only Tamil film in 2009, Saran’s Modhi Vilayadu, released first and garnered mixed reviews but poor box office returns. Next, she starred in Magadheera, in which she did double roles for the first time. The film gained universal critical acclaim as did the lead actors.
In 2010, her releases were Naan Mahaan Alla, Om Shanti, Darling, Chandi, Brindavanam, and Orange. In the romantic Tamil film Naan Mahaan Alla, Kajal played a character named Priya opposite Karthi. In Bhaskar's Orange her co-stars were Ram Charan Teja and Genelia D'Souza.
